Theory

                Today, we learn about the history of classic music from the beginning till today. The first thing that happen today as we walk in to the class and take our seats, our teacher showed us samples  of music and the artist of classic from youtube. After the hearing and knowing the artists name, our teacher discussed about the periods or. What they call timeline of the classical music from years before 1400 till the year 1900 and over. Our teacher mostly discussed about the Baroque period in about the year 1600 till 1750, he discussed this because this was the year time/period where people make music and the music still exist till very now such as the work of J.S Bach, G.F Haendel, Antoniovivald, and John Pachelbel who wrote the canon D. After learning the history of classic music, the teacher told us to tell out one by one what pop song that we want to sing for our assessment and the teacher wants us to sing a few lines of the song we picked. I chose the song collide by Howie day. Learning all this music periods, artist hearing the music by classical music had really inspired me to want to learn more in violin and piano.

Music practical

                Today, since our time was petty caught up by the music theory; we were not able to do many things during the music practical since we had only about 15 to 20 min left. So our teacher told us to bring our just our violin bow and checked our hand position so that we can hold it is and properly as it will affect the whole sound of the violin and get even worse. Then your teacher told us few good stories about the bow and pretty much how the bow should be like. I like how the teacher explained to us how the bow should be is and what he expects from each and every one of us. He also expects more from me and I’m trying to go over his expectation. I’m planning for this term to study the song that we played during the string and sample because we well be having a concert and I have no other teacher that well teach me the song, and I want to learn the song Jesu, joy of man’s desiring. I hope that I can cover all this.

Theory                             

                Today, in the music theory class, we did and cover quite a lot of things. First before the class officially started, we seated according to our music instrument and Mr. Herry came. Then he checked our recourses and attendance. Then the class officially started. The teacher gave out the MYP learning plan and task booklet for this semester that we will be covering. He explains to us what we well be doing for did term accordingly to the MYP learning plan. In this term, we will be focusing about classical and pop music. He told as what the class will be having such as group slides presentation, individual report and the most important thing I guess is what he expects from us. Also today, we are put into groups for the group slide presentation. I was grouped with 5 people which are Cindy F., Michelle, Alden, Davin and I. I’m looking forward to work with this people for this project and hopefully to end with a good results. I think that the schedule that my teacher is fare according to the assessments dates and tasks. The timeframe is good and I’m looking forward to what we will be doing for this term.

Music Practical

                Today, in the music practical class, we were also pretty short of time. We were able to get in some basic stuff such as the basics of the violin. I think that the teacher is really good, he know many important things about the violin and tricks and tactics about the violin. In class, the teacher tuned the violin and the cello. After the teacher tuned the violin, he made every one; one by one to come up to the teacher and he will show us how to hold the violin bow properly and easy way. He caught 2 people having a long nails and told them to cut it. Than after the holding of the bow is done, he told me to show an example to play the violin. I was not really sure about the song that I played. When the time is up, he told us to prepare a song that we will learn from the Suzuki book 1. And I have chosen a song no. 13 title “Gavotte”. I think that it is a good start to learn how to play the violin, I’m pretty happy with the class. I hope that in the next class, I could learn the song that I picked.

Theory

                Today, the very first thing that the teacher told us to do was to seat according to our instrument. I was excited to know what we will be doing for the first music studies. We learn the very basic of the music and it was the C major and we learn the interval 1, 1, ½, 1, 1, 1, ½. It was pretty good in my opinion because after years of not learning music theory, I tended to forget all the rules of the music such as the sharps in different scales and the intervals. The teacher also gave us a piece of paper that tells us all the upcoming task and assessments. In my opinion, it is good because it tells me the dates so I can prepare earlier. The teacher also tells me to start finding information about the classic and popular music. The teacher also told us that we will be having a quiz in the next session next week. I will start to gather information and study for the next upcoming quiz.

Music practical

                Today, since we came out of the music theory class pretty late, the time for the music class is half gone and we it was the first time we had a music practical class, we did not had a time to open up our instrument and practice, if not by the time we finish tuning the violin, the time will be finish. So the violin teacher, Mr. Sadrakh Hutapea, gave us his introduction of himself and what he expects in the music class for this semester. I think that it is important to know what our teachers expect from us so that we can try to get a better score. I also find the teacher interesting and fun to talk to, he has a lot of resources to the violin which I believe it is good. Next time, I hope that we will have a chance to have a shorter time of theory and be able to have an enough time to have the music practical.

Theory 

                Today, I had my first Music class in this semester. I Felt every exited to be in the music class again. I found out that Mr. Harry is your music teacher. During the class, He showed to us the music instrument that the school offer and we were to choose the music instrument we want, and I chose the violin because I like to play it. The teachers also played for us the entire instrument that the school offers to us. Mr. harry also told us the things we will be doing for this term. The major topic is classical vs. popular music. I think that it is a good to learn for music and I am pretty excited for music this semester and I hope that I will enjoy the music class for this semester. I also was very inspired when Mr. Harry Wisnu played the saxophone. The sound of it made me want to learn it and I hope that I can learn the saxophone.
