15, March 2011 Music Reflection

Theory
                Today in theory class we did not really do so much of stuff. We did not really learn any new things in related to music. After marking of the attendance and resources, our teacher started the class, by reviewing the topic of inversion. In my perspective, I think that inversion is not that difficult. But I think that it was a good idea to re-add what we had learned a few weeks ago. There are still many of my friends who are still confused but I was also first confused when I learn it. But the class was pretty fun, where were laughter and jokes. Then, after re-capping the inversions, our teacher gave us and told us to do the music workbook. The workbook for me is like a reflection book, where basically I write what I have been doing and learning in this term. In my opinion, this workbook is not necessary because what I put into the workbook is the reflections that I’m doing right now and the reflection about the music assessment that I did where I had to right my reflection as well. Then, after that, my teacher showed us some of my friend’s blogspot. I felt pretty bad for them because our teacher put in there video that they uploaded and played it in full screen. I was not able to put in my video till now because, I am not been able to put it in youtube.com and have it in the blog. I’ll try to find another way to do this.

Music Practical
                Today, since we were sent out from the music class on time, we were able to cover up quite a lot of stuff. We were able study new music and also tell some funny stories. Because I finish my Suzuki book 1 when I had the music practical assessment, I was able to change to a higher book, Suzuki book 2. I find the book quite hard but I will try my best to practice and play the song in the book so that I will be better in violin over a few months. The first song that I played from the book that I have to practice was not that hard but I still made a lot of mistake. So, I have to practice that song a lot at home. Then after getting to know the song, I was able to pick up the song pretty fast. And what I need is practice at home. Then because we still had time we talked about the project week to Medan. I think that the project week will be nice and I hope that I will be able to play more violin and learn more about the violin.

9, March 2011 Music Reflection


Theory
            Today, in music theory class, it was very relaxing but it was pretty a pressure in the end of the class. As usual, our teacher marked our attendance and our resources. After that was settled, he told us our final scores for the singing assessment that we did last time. I was happy with my score I think it is fair because I did quite a lot of mistake. Then after the happiness from the score, our teacher gave us a quiz, how exciting. I really was not able to do the test but thank goodness, we were able to open our notes and etc. so I was pretty much save. The quiz was about classical music to pop music history, music chords and Inversion. I’m still confused with minor key and the inversions. So I think that the quiz is good, so that our teacher can se our knowledge and understanding.

Music practical
            Since yesterday was our music practical assessment, we are now more relax. We did not really play songs with our instrument, we only practice a little bit and we were done. Our teacher told us how well we played during the assessment, he also told us stories that made us inspired more to play the violin and how music can drive people crazy in living and work. His word inspired me quite a lot for the future were musician can quit from his or her job and become a true musician. After his word, we talk about the project week that is about to come and about the Medan trip that the String Assemble group will be going, he told us what we will be doing and the achievement that we will be achieving in this project week. Then after so long of talking, we played our instruments, we played a new song. And before we played the song, we had a warm up time, were we keep on playing the violin together over and over again. I found it tiring and my necks hurt. Than we played the songs that we want to play. Next time I want to try to us a new music book as I have just finish my 1st book. Our teacher also told us to practice a lot at home.

8, March 2011 Music Reflection


Theory
            Today, it is the day of our music practical assessment. I was pretty nervous but thank God, I was able to go threw the assessment. Before entering the class, I was pretty nervous. So when we went in the class, our teacher checked our attendance and resources. Right after that he gave a bit of introduction about the whole assessment witch I think is important so that I will be able to know his expectations and to achieve his expectations. After talking about what we have to do before, during and after the assessment, we started with the assessment. The piano student was the first group that did their assessment. The piano student was very good I like how they played. During some time in the piano assessment, my friends and me went out of the class and prepare the violin and cello. We also had a change to practice the song, so at least I did not get too much nervous. When I went into class, the piano students were finishing their songs, so I was pretty nervous. Then after the piano student was done, the pressure was on. I can feel the pressure in me but I was able to take it out of me. Because my name starts with “A” so, I was the last one to play. My violin friends played very well. After Benny was done, I was pretty happy because I really wan to finish my assessment. So I went on the stage and just play and be done. After that I went and took a seat. I then right my reflection on the assessment paper so I felt good and confident. Then I herd the woodwind and the guitar. My friends play very well. I liked it.

Music Practical
            Because of the practical assessment, there was no music practical.

2nd, March 2011 music reflection


Theory
            Today in the theory class, as usual our teacher marked our attendance and checked our resources. Our teacher reminded us about the video that we have to post in out blog on your practices, about 2 video. Then our teacher started his lecture. Our teacher that day talks about major7, minor7 and diminish7. I Really did not understand what the teacher was explaining the whole time, in my perspective, it is very confusing and I nearly got nothing from what the teacher was explaining. I tried myself to understand and fully concentrated to what he is trying to say and explain but I just can’t get what is he trying to explain to me. So when I get home, I want to ask who ever people who understand it and can explain to me and make me understand. After the long explanation, our teacher told us the students who did not had the rehearsal in the stage yesterday had to do it on that day. So I was not prepared but I’m going to play can-can witch I’m confident with. Think goodness I was the few last people who are going to play, so at least I can see other friends play. I think that my friends play very well and I think that they will get good scores. During the assessment I’m also think thing to play “twinkle, twinkle little star” since every body from the violin group will be playing it.

Music Instrument
            Today in music class it was shocking, because Mr. Sadrakh did not go to the school so, Miss, Alma, our PE teacher replace him. So the whole violin class was pretty awkward. Since she does not know the standard of each of us, she told us all to play the “twinkle, twinkle little star.” She first told us to play together a few time than she told us to play one by one. I was pretty confident to play it alone. The violin practice we had with Miss, Alma was pretty good and she allowed us to practice and she shared also some funny things that made us be happy while playing the violin.

1, March 2011 music reflection

Theory
            Today in music theory class, we did not really do so much out of a thing but it was pretty boring in my perspective.  The teacher checked our attendance as usual and our resources. Then our teacher explains to us and debated to us if we want to have the music assessment this week or next week, but obviously every one pick next week. Then our teacher gave out the paper for the assessment that we will be doing next week and we have to fill the empty the empty blacks. The questions are all related to the assessment witch talks about the music on how we practice, why you pick out that song, why did you do in the test and so on so fort. After the explanation, our teacher told some of the student to rehears the song that we will be playing for the assessment in front of the stage. The piano students followed by the guitar and flute then the cello. I think that they did very well for there first shot in front of the whole class. It’s really hard to say which on is the best because they are all playing different music title and they all play very well. Because the time was running out, our teacher let us out to our music instrument class.

Music Practical
            Today, I think that is was the best music practical class I have ever had in this semester. I found the teacher very interesting and fun at the same time very fierce at the same time. He likes to share funny jokes that I found funny and he teaches us good method and techniques in the violin. After we tune our instruments, our teacher told us to practice the song “twinkle, twinkle little star.” But he mostly paid attention to the beginners of the violin. He thought my new beginner friends some method and techniques which made me also able to recall the concepts that I learn a long time ago. He also told us to practice the song for the assessment that we have to play. After the practice, I felt stronger and confident to my self for the assessment next week.

23, Feb 2011 Music Reflection

Theory
                Today in Theory class, we did not really do so much of things, since we have finish all our assessments except for the assessment in music practical which is to play a classical music. Our teacher checked our attendance and resources as usual. Then after everything is settled, our teacher showed us music clips on different instrument to help us get inspirations so that we will have the eagerness to learn harder on the instrument and to be like the people in the music clip. I got inspired by the guitar and the saxophone clip. It really made me want to learn this instrument. I wish that I can play like them. I really love the person who played the guitar because it is unusual where the people play in a different unique way. Even if I took the violin, I did not get inspired by the violin from the music clip, but I have family and friends that inspire and supported me in the violin.

Music Practical
                Today since we did not wasted our time in Theory class; we were able to have a lot of fun playing our instruments in the music practical class. We were able to have a lot of fun in the same time learning the violin. After all the hectic of opening our violin, tuning it. We started to play the song “twinkle, twinkle little star”, It was nice that we were able to play the song together and help each other if we are right or wrong. I like how we were having fun in the class. I was also glade that I was able to help my friends to play the violin properly and also technique. I also enjoyed my teacher’s explanation when we were playing the song. Then I played the song minuet 3 because that will be the son that I will be playing for the practical assessment. The first time I played the song, it was pretty hard but after playing for a few times, it was not that hard anymore. I wish every music class it will like this.
