25 May 2011 Music Reflection


                  Today is the last day of our music class in this academic year. When we enter the class, our teacher continued in the music assessment, witch is to play the music composition in the respective instrument. We started on where we left the last time; the guitar played then the woodwind played. I have to say that all my friends are really good in making music composition. I wish I could be like them, to great a song that is nice and simple. They also played very well in there assessment. While my friends do there assessment, My friends and I who was waiting, were busy doing the music reflection booklet, the booklet was not that hard but it need a lot of writing to write and I was only able to write 2 pages out of 4 pages. Then after the music assessment, I can feel that everybody was happy that the music assessment for this semester is over. Then we had our photo session, in there perspective music Instruments and there coaches. It was really fun and we had a great time today. I so happy that I was able to finish this music unit for this semester. There was hard times and there was fun times, to be honest, this is one of the best music class that I have ever have so I’m really happy of this class, thanks to friends and music teachers. Too bad that I will not be having music class next school year.

24 May 2011 Music Reflection


                  Today is the day of the music assessment. Every body was hectic with there composition and instruments. The teacher said that the piano would start first and fooled by violin, guitar and flute. Before the music assessment started our teacher allowed us to go out for 5 min and tune up our violin and to worm up. I was really panic at that time but at the some time I want to get this assessment fast and quick. So I tuned up my violin and try to practice as much as I can. After that our teacher called us and started the assessment. I was very panic at that time but was able to calm done when I enter the classroom. The piano started out first, think goodness I was not that scared and I was able to calm down. When the Piano student was done, it was the violin groups tern. Thanks to my violin teacher, he picks me to play the first. I really did not want to be the first one playing. When I play my song, my teacher accompanies me with the piano. I was not ready for this at all, I was a bit scared with it because with the times I remembered, the violinist has to hear the piano as well and I have not practice doing that at all for a long time. In the end I was able to play the composition and ended it in a success. I was really glad that I fish this assessment. Then all my friends play there instruments, but because there was no more time, my teacher stop the assessment with the violin and will start the class tomorrow with the guitar then flute.

18 May 2011 Music Reflection


Music Theory
                  Today will be the last day of the assessment before the last assessment. So we were all quite in a hectic mode. So, our teacher told as to have the last practice or general rehearsal. We called each students by there groups starting with the Piano, violin, guitar and woodwind. My friends and I was not 100% ready to play our music composition, so all went to the violin studio and start tuning up our instrument and start practicing the song that we composed with our instrument, while the piano student are in the music room having there rehearsal. After practicing, we all went to the music room and when we enter the piano group had finish. I was a bit panic at that time because I not really ready to play I front of the stage. I’m not able to comment on the piano students because I was not there. Here is the list of my comments.
1.     Bella: She has confident on herself but she is still not ready at the same time. I can see that see did her best.
2.     Melicia: I don’t think that she is ready with her song. She is still of beat and was not able to play all the notes. I think with practice she is able to make it for the assessment.
3.     Benny: He is still shy to play and so I was not able to here what we he playing. It looks like he is still not ready with the song, and needs a lot of practice.
4.     Ynigo: He looks like he is ready to play with his song. The song he composed is good, it has good tune and tempo. And I think he played well.
5.     Ivan: I don’t think that he is really ready with his composition. He still need to work with the song especially with the ending and practice the song a lot of times.
6.     Davin: His composition is nice, it sounded very good, and I think he don’t need to change it, but he still needs to practice with his composition.
7.     Daniel: He is like Davin, his song is good but he needs to practice a lot.
8.     Alden: His composition is very good, but he need to practice a lot, he need to keep up his tempo and I think with practice he is ready for the assessment.
We were only able to have this much of people play today. I think that they have all good music composition and the only problem is, is to practice it as much as possible. So that, they will be able to play good and well during the assessment.

Indonesia Pusaka assessment

Indonesia Pusaka Practice
     This is when I was practicing singing "Indonesia Pusaka." There are still some things that is still not in-tuned with the song. I am trying to stable up my beat/tempo so it constant. The song is easy to memories and the lyrics of the song is meaningful I like this song. I will try to practice more before the assessment day. so i can get a better and higher score.

11, May 2011 Music Reflection


Music Theory
Today in music class, our teacher told us to submit the final music composition that we made. I was lucky that my teacher was able to fix it yesterday and I was able to fix it in finale when I got home. The song that I made was final and I has happy when I gave the music composition to my teacher. When our teacher is done and settled, our teacher called out a few of my class mate and play there music composition with there instruments. If I can say, some of the student are ready to do the test and some of them are already familiar with there songs and they just need to practice more so they can get use to too the song the composed.

Music Practical
                  Today in music practical, it was again like what happen yesterday, practice, practice and practice. There were parts in the composition that I made that is hard for me to play, the notes are mix and there are a lot of notes that have to be played in the violin between the high sting and the low strings witch made it hard for me to play. There are also parts that are quick and slow, so it is really important for me to keep on practicing over and over again till I get tired. Because the time was very short, I did not have any time left to practice, so our teacher told me to practice a lot at home witch is was I’m going to do.

10, May 2011 Music Reflection


Music Theory
                  Today, the class was pretty relaxing, nothing really had happen. When we start the class, the teacher showed us quite a lot of video clips of famous musician a round the world from solo to orchestra. When I watch the video clips, I got very innovated to play more of my violin and being able to play in a big orchestra. I really got inspire to want to learn the cello, because the cello has a very good bass sound and can be played not just for classic music but also rock or pop music.  The guitar also moves me to make me want to practice more on the guitar too. Then after the video clips, our teacher made some of the student to play their music composition in their instrument.

Music Practical
                  Today in music practical, it was really practicing the song that we composed. Before I play the song, I wrote down the fingering to help to read the notes the easy way. While I practice, my teacher helped me by teaching how to pay the song properly. I think that it is great to have a teacher that understands and can help. Then my teacher also fix some parts of the music so that it will sound better in the ears and will sound better. My teacher told me to keep on practicing the music composition and keep on playing it. He also told me to take breaks when practicing. I was happy with the son that was composed and I’m glad that it was a success. I will try my best to practice a lot at home.

This one of the time where I am practicing by violin. There are still some mistakes and things that is till needed to be practice. I think after practicing a few more times I'll be able to play the sing fluently.

4, May 2011 Music Reflection


Music theory
                  Today, my friends was a bit hectic during the start of music class, because tomorrow is the music audition for music next year, this audition is to see if the student are allowed to join music next student. So our teacher explains a bit to calm us all down. After the teacher explains, we continued with the things we left yesterday with the playing of the music composition in finale and this are the rest of the student.
1.     Gifi: I like the tune of his song and how the song is being played. I like it also because there a lot of combination in the song witch made it sound good.
2.     Ivan: The music that he composed is a very good example of combination, playing with the notes. There are quick parts and slow parts in the song.
3.     Jacqueline: I really like the song that she had composed, it is good. It a quick and fun song to play and to hear.
4.     Johan: I think that he needs to fix his composition and put in more combination so the music will not ne so boring, but the tempo is ok and the ending of the song has to fixed.
5.     Michelle: The song is very good, I like it. There are a lot of variation that is used and at the beginning of the song I felt like it’s a traditional song.
6.     Olivia: I like Olivia composed song; I think that it’s a really good peace. It is a very expressive song and I also feel that the song is a traditional song.
7.     Sarah: I think that Sarah’s music is a romantic music in my perspective. It has a good tune and good combination in the composition.
8.     Ester: The song created is a very nice and simple. It consist of probably less notes than the others, but I really like how she composed her music.
9.     Tathiana: I think that the song that she composed is very simple. There is too much of breaks between the variations and bars.
10.  Yoshiko: I think that the song is good enough, but I think to make it better, she can put in more breaks in the song and more variation as well.
11.  Yuliana: I think that her music composition is good, but I think that there should be more variation I the composition and make the beat faster.
These are all the friends that were done with their music draft composition. After this we were done with our Theory class and were able to go to our next class.

Music Practical
                  Today, I am really glad that my teacher is able to help me finish my music composition and it is going to be the final draft of the composition, which means there will be no changes on the composition. In this process of finalizing all the music notes and beats in the composition, made me feel like I’m working in a real music production. I think that it is a very good experience for me to be able to feel how people work in the music department. In the end of the class, I’m happy to finish the song. I hope will be able to write done of finale.

3, May 2011 Music Reflection


Music Practical
                  Today, the class was pretty simple. Our teacher played us all the music composition that we have given to him by finale, we is able to use on the future inside the finale witch is to be able to play the music that we play in finale. So he played each and everybody’s composition, there were also students who was not done with there music composition so we were not able to here it. But our teacher told us to write our reflection on the songs we he played.
1.     My song (Allen): Because it was just fix, I am still not done with the song in part C, and I think that I still have to change some ones on the part A and B.
2.     Callista: I like her song, it sound like the title itself, music box, it has a good sound and tune that is being produce in the music.
3.     Cindy Feb.: I think that the song that Cindy had composed is good, there are soft part in the music and a fast playing in the music.
4.     Cindy Fel,: I really like her song, no dough about that. I wish I could as great as her in making music composition. It has a nice and beautiful sound in the music.
5.     Daniel: The song that he composed in my opinion it to quick, but if the tempo is turned down I don’t really get the notes. I think there should be improvements.
6.     Janice: I think that the song that she composed is really good. The song is both very fun and a happy song.
7.     Jesslyn: I song that she composed for me it to quick and I think that she need to put in some breaks to she song and to slower the song down.
8.     Bellla: I think the song is nice, but is so complicated, I think that the song should be made a lot simple. When the song is played I feel that it is a sad song and it has a meaning to the song.
9.     Mage: I song has a good tune to it; I think that the song is really nice, fun and happy.
10.  Melicia: I think that the song that Melicia composed is very good, because the son is rich in the bass, and the song has a lot of ups and downs witch made quite tricky to play.
We did not have enough time to play the whole composition that everyone composed so the teacher will be continuing the song tomorrow.

Music practical
                  In today’s practical class, our teacher helped us with our music composition again. But while waiting for my turn, I practice some part of my song that is already done, and just keep on practicing the song till I get so tired. It was just pure practicing the part A and B over and over again. I found the song quite hart at the first time but by practicing it over and over again, I was able to catch up with the song and playing it better every time. I wish that I will be able to keep practicing like what I did today, and by the time I stop practicing, the time was up. I will try to play more when I get home.

Music Theory
                  Today during class time, since we just had our music assessment yesterday, our teacher gave us a booklet and told us to answer the booklet, the booklet is like the reflection on what we did in the whole process of the assessment, it ask us to write all the detail of the whole assessment from the preparation to the finish of the assessment. The booklet is not that difficult, it really simple things and how we felt in that particular stage of the assessment. After all of us have finish our booklet, our teacher told us to sent one person from each music instrument to send a representative and play their music composition. I play the violin and I was voted to be the one playing, I really did not want to play because I do not know how to play my song the song it still under construction, many parts have not been done. But since I was force, I just play whatever I wrote and us much as I can.

Music Practical
                  In the music practical today, I was able to fix the sing that I made, thanks to my awesome violin teacher, he help me to figure out my part A and B of the music peace, so I am really excited to learn more about the music composition. In this process, I really had learned a lot of things; there is a lot of things that the teacher thought me in this process. I was able to learn more rules in music and to apply them in the music composition. Because there was not enough time, I was only able to cover A and B, I will try to figure out the part C at home.

Music Theory
                  Today in music class, it’s the day of the singing assessment where we are supposed to sing in duet or trio. The song we are supposed to sing is the song “You’ve got a friend.” It is a pretty old song, but it is a good song and the word are good and the lyrics talks about no matter you are, you have a friend. I was able to sing this song with Cindy Felicia, it was a pleasure to be able to sing with her. We were able to make different voices and echoes’’. We were able to be the second person to sing. We actually wanted to have a full band that is playing, Cindy playing the classical picking and I will be playing the bass and the percussion.  But then because of the short time of practice and time, we were not able to bring it out to the assessment. So we just ended up singing with playing with our voices. I was quite uncomfortable on the stage because I never ever did a duet in front of the nice and audience who are watching. Thank goodness that I did not forget any word or being blank. I’m so glad that the assessment is over.  After one by one this are the group of duet and trio that sings in the order from the beginning to the end.

                 After the singing, we were able to relax out. While waiting, our teacher the teacher gave as the reflection paper on the singing of Indoneisa Pusaka and told us to write our reflection on the paper. After all are done, out teacher ask who was the best singing duet and trio in everybody’s opinion on the singing today.  After the voting, we were able to be the 2nd top number of votes.

Music Practical
                  We did not have music practical because we did not have enough time due to the singing assessment today.

20 April 2011 Music Reflection


Music Theory
                  Today as soon as I enter the class, it was not like the usual setting of chair because the seats are all more spread out from one to another and there are 3 rows. Then I was reminded that today was a music test. Thank goodness, I was bale to understand quite what I was studying in the last week in music theory class, and so I have the truth or testing my own understanding in music. When I open the music test paper, the test was about the major and the atonic trite. When I start doing the test, I found out that the test was not as easy as I thought it would be. I had forgotten all the things that I learn in the class and only able to re-call a bit the studies I had. It took me about 20-25 minutes to do the test. I really had put in my best effort to do the test and so I hope to get a high mark and least the passing score because I was not ready for the test. Next time I will take more things seriously especially test and not underestimate them. I think that it is important to get a good score and also to study.

Music Practical
                  Today in music practical, our teacher focus on singing the Indonesia Pusaka, so that we will be familiar to the song and because we are Indonesian, it is important for us to understand this song, by memorizing the song and to singing it properly the way the song should be sang. The teacher put us in a line and told us to sing together and sing, so that we can help our friends to get the tune and help them bring out the load voice. We than sing and sing till we get the song stuck on my mind and keeps on playing. In my opinion it is good for as to singing this song especially if we are an Indonesian, It shows that we are prude to be an Indonesian and fight for Indonesia from the others. 

14 April 2011 Music Reflection


Music Theory
                  Today in music class, it was really about singing. We hear the music and try to sing with the right way of singing and get some tips from the vocal teacher. When we got in to class today, our teacher played music “Indonesia Pusaka,” with the background pictures. I like of the person sings from the music, good tune, power and pitch. After hearing the song for quite sometimes I was able to memories the lyrics and be in tune with the whole class. The song on the end was not that hard in my perspective so I’m pretty confident of myself, but I’m not sure about singing it in front of the whole class as a solo. Then our teacher shared as the music that we will be going to sing , titled “you’ve got a friend.” He showed to us the original version and the now a day version. The song is a very old song but it is still played my people. The song is very slow and I was able to pick up the song quite easily because I ‘m quite familiar with the song. I don’t really like the song that western song that we have to sing because it is quite slow and to boring for me. Then our vocal teacher came and made us sing “Indonesia Pusaka.” I think that it is good for him to come and share tips on how to sing better.

19 April, 2011 Music Reflection

Music Theory
                Today in music class it was serious but a fun class. When I went into the class it was very nice, peaceful and the music “Indonesia Pusaka” was being played, till our teacher showed up and said that the music singing assessment of “Indonesia Pusaka” is today and the order will be from a to z. Well if it starts that way for me is that, I will have to be singing the song the second witch will make me a bit shocked but at the same time I really want to get over with the pressure of this singing assessment. We directly started the assessment and here are the feedbacks that I got from this singing assessment.
1.       Alden:   I think that he is shy to sing louder witch made it hard for the audience to hear him sing. His pitch was not that same with the tune of the music. But overall it was a good shot.
2.       Allen:    I have no idea how I did because I was the one singing. I think that I did awful because I did not practice that much and I forgotten a word witch ruined the whole sentence.
3.       Benny:  He is a person who has the high pitch so the teacher has to bring up the piano tune. His voice when singing was a bit not on tune witch I think is really okay, he looks good on stage.
4.       Callista: I think that she has a good pitch, voice and I think that she did great. But I also think that she is a bit stage fright.
5.       Cindy Febriana: She has a good voice and tone that is brought out and I think that she did great for this assessment
6.       Cindy Felicia: she has a very beautiful high and soft voice, she brought out very good pitch and tune to the music.
7.       Daniel:  He was a very good pitch to the music. He also tried to take control of his stage well. He has a good pitch and tone with the song and brought it out softly.
8.       Davin:   Does not look like have have stage fright at all but takes control of his stage well. Have a good bass soft voice and a good pitch to the song.
9.       Gifi:        he sings loud and soft at the same time. He took control of his stage with his singing, very well and not seems to have any problem.
10.   Ivan:      I can see that he is trying to get to the right pitch and tune to the music. He was not really that shy but he did not memories all the lyrics in the music.
11.   Jacqueline: She looks very well on stage, took control of it well. She brought out a nice tune and pitch to the song.
12.   Janice:  She has a very good sound, even if she did not really have had hit the high note. She tries to take control of her pitch and tone very well and I can see that she was using the singing techniques.
13.   Jesslyn: I think because she was shy, she was not able to deliver loud voice. While she song, she also forgotten some of the lyrics. But she has a good pitch to the music.
14.   Johan:   I don’t think that he is that serious when singing. He was not really in the pitch of the song, he sings pretty much flat. He brought out a small voice n was not I the same beat as the music.
15.   Joshua: When he sings, he brought out a small voice and looks shy. He did not really had memories the song, but he has a pretty good tune to the song.
16.   Bella:     Bella has a very beautiful voice that was brought out. She brought out a very nice soft, quite and mellow voice. She controls that pitch and the tune very well to the song. She is serious in her singing.
17.   Mage:   She brought out very good soft voice. She has a nice pitch to the song; she is a bit nervous but took control of her stage well.
18.   Melicia:                She was nervous, but she delivers a good voice. She also sings the song quite fast, rushing but she memories the lyrics. I think that the tone of the song was too high for her.
19.   Michelle: She has a very nice soft voice that was brought out. She was in a good tune and pitch with song and she took the stage well.
20.   Olivia:    She has a very beautiful voice, I think that she was dragging the word and was quite rushing, but she was able to control her pitch very well and use the singing techniques very well.
21.   Sarah:   I can see that she was shy, it looks like the song is too high for her but she was able to control it well and sung it in a nice soft voice.
22.   Ester:    She brought a good voice quality, she was able to get the notes on the right tune and her pitch was good. She also used the singing techniques witch help her sing it better.
23.   Tatiana: She has a good voice when singing, but she sounded that she was not taking the stage well and she shakes. And was rushing. She also used the singing techniques to sing this song.
24.   Ynigo:    It looks like the pitch of the music it’s too high for him, so he sings the song in the upper octave; he was not really in tune with the music. He did not really have had memories the lyrics.
25.   Yoshiko: She bought out a nice soft voice and she was not scared of the people but controlled her stage well. She has a good pitch and tune to the music. She uses the singing technique very well.
26.   Yuliana: She sings very well, she had a good pitch to the song. She produced a very nice soft voice. And she controls herself well.

                After all the singing that took almost 2 session of music class, we were all pretty relief that this singing assessment was done. We had a lot of fun at the same time during this assessment.

Music Practical
                We did not really had time for music practical, because there was only about 4 minutes left till class is over due to the singing assessment.
